Crich Walk, June 7th 2025

8/6/2025

I was joined by good friend, Allan for a walk in the Crich area yesterday. This was a walk I had done many times with husband Terry, over many years and in all seasons.

With spectacular views across Crich, Whatstandwell and beyond, we climbed the path from The Common, up Sun Lane, and past the Crich Fire Station.

Observing the round-walled, Queen Victoria Jubilee tree housing, we continued further upwards on the path towards The Tors.

From there we enjoyed the magnificent vista of the surrounding countryside, as we looked out from our high vantage point over Fritchley, Wingfield Park and beyond.

The sheer drop from this giddy viewing point, although safely walled, was quite breathtaking, and that was not just due to our steep ascent!

Continuing along this path, looking across the opposite side, we were enthralled with the splendid views of Crich Chase woods, the top of Whatstandwell, Shining Cliff Woods and the prominent white Alderwasley School on the horizon.

It is even more wonderful in Winter, with clear, crisp views of the surrounding fresh countryside.

Terry has fond memories of this favourite walk, and would have very much liked to have joined us today, had his current health condition been more favourable.
